The Construction of the Mausoleum |

The construction of the mausoleum accompanied the First Emperor's political.The construction work started as soon as hemounted the King's throne at the age of13(246 B.C). The construction of the mausoleum lasted for more than 30 years during his reign and had stil not been completed when he died. After the Second Emperor succeeded to the throne,the construction continued for a little over one year until the mausoleum was basically completed. Generally speaking,the construction work can be lasted for 26 years,form the time when First Emperor succeeded to the ththrone as the king of Qin(246 B.C.)to his successful unification of China(221 B.C).In this stage,the designing of the mausoleum and the construction of its rincipal part were laid down.The nine years starting fromthe unification of China to the 35th year of the First Emoeror'sregn(244.B.C)was the large scale construction period for the mausoleum project.The principal part of the mausoleum was basically completed after the nine years'large scale construction by a hundred thousand workers. The three years from the 35th year of the First Emperor's reign to the winter of the second year of the Second Emoeror's reign(208 B.C.)was the last stage of the construction .the major task of this stage was to wind up the construction and cover up the mausoleum with earth. |
