Yang Ling
"Han
Yang Ling" is the joint mausoleum of Emperor Jingdi and Empress Wang his
consort. Han Yang Ling is situated to the north of the Thangjiawan Villige,
Thengyang County, Weicheng Area, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. Since the
seventies of this century, archaeological teams Had successively made explorations
and excavations on the tomb area, but large-scale and regular work of excavations
only dated on May, 1990 .For the purpose of taking concerted actions with the
highwaconstruction with a rescue work of clearage, the Qin Han Research Section
of the Institute of Archaeology of Shannxi Province organized a team of Archaeology
for the Han Mausoleums, who found a group of large pits of burial grounds at
the south area of the Mausoleums Region some time later.
There is a great number of naked pottery figurines precisely shaped vividly
mouthed and realistically colored. Which are all of a high artistic value, serving
as samples of the "Tung Man dressing himself gorgeously" (of, "On
Salt and Iron Monopoly": "Distributing Alms among the Needy")
and another representative of the caving and decorating techniques of the Qin
and Han Dynasty. Especially the animal's figurines, whose images were vividly
and realistically moulded and portrayed, adequately prove that the artists of
the Han Dynasty had attained a rather high level.
